MINI Cooper Bond Street

MINI has already established a tradition of releasing London-inspired special editions and now the carmaker is giving us a fresh one, the Clubman Bond Street. The vehicle takes inspiration from the famous shopping street and will bring “a unique interior and exterior interpretation that reflects the style of this most upmarket of London addresses”. Visit our own special Londoner at Ferman MINI of Tampa Bay and ask Gary !

The car is dressed in Midnight Black Metallic, featuring a contrasting roof, exterior mirror caps, bonnet stripes, as well as Cool Champagne-finished lower C-pillars. It rides in 17-inch alloy wheels with a double-spoke design, which mix a black center with an outer circle finished in Cool Champagne.

Climbing aboard, we find a Carbon Black finish with contrast piping and stitching for the lounge leather seats, Deep Champagne trimming, as well as a Chrome Line pack.

The special edition offers a comprehensive list of features, including including front fog lights, Chrome line exterior package, climate control, on-board computer, Bluetooth, USB functionality, rain sensor and automatic headlamp activation, sport leather steering wheel, height adjustment for both front seats, the storage package and the lighting package.

Bruce Weiner’s Microcar Museum in Madison, Georgia is said to be the largest collection of little cars in the world, and they’re all rolling over the RM Auctions block February 15-16, 2013. Weiner spent 15 years assembling the 200-strong bounty, and beyond the size of the collection RM Auctions says many of ladybug-sized vehicles are of exceptional rarity or in the best condition or the most unusual, and are headed to auction for the first time.

The BMW Isetta is practically a base commoner compared to the rare nobility in the collection, like the 1957 Messerschmitt – yes, that Messerschmitt – KR201 and Messerschmitt Tiger, the Goggomobil Transporter, Voisin Biscooters and the world’s single Mivalino. Nevertheless, there are some special Isetta’s in the fold, including a German police version, a pickup and an Isetta turned into a Hot Wheels build called the “Whattadrag” with a 502-cubic-inch Chevrolet engine boasting 730 horsepower.

Alongside the hundreds of cars will go hundreds of collectibles from the 1940s to 1960s, like neon signs, kiddie rides, scale models, vending machines and candy dispensers. There’s a press release below, with a video on the auction and a clip on the museum from the History Channel’s Modern Marvels.

Ok…just in case my following post doesn’t quite completely convey my love of all things MINI, the sum of my thoughts regarding this article was…well, duh.

I always find the comparison models amusing; but then I guess MINI must compare to something near in price and size although the reason why MINIacs love their MINIs rarely involve these other models. But then I am an opinionated one to say the least.

Now in my defense I’m not all “MINI is the only fun car around”. There are a fair share of models that exude either cuteness, sporty-ness or some combination of the two but never-the-less continues to fall short of matching what MINI has to offer… that is unless you double the price. Not that all of us can or want to pay that much more and then why should one, when MINI offers so many options from fun to super fun to balls to the wall FUN!

Read on and let me know your opinion.
